Introduction to Precision Sniper Rifle - Long Range Hunting
Course Description:
The need to reach out and attack/eliminate threats at distance. Hunters think they can, movies show it done, but its tougher in real life, and compounded drastically by the wind.
This course will cover the fundamentals of precision marksmanship, help you evaluate the accuracy of you and your weapon system, give you “dope” out to 400yds, and include some tactical considerations. Six hours can’t make you a gunfighter, but we will lay the foundation of principles that if practiced regularly will make you capable of defending yourself against many distant threats.
Course Requirements:
The Rifle and scope combination you intend to use. We recommend .308, but .223, ‘06 and other calibers are acceptable. Please no magnums, as we’ll all be over-punished for 4 hours. If you are using a suppressor, have your paperwork with you. A good scope of at least 6x-10x, solidly mounted in good rings, at least bore sighted before arrival. If you don’t have target turrets, you will be learning holdovers. A solid bipod (Harris or better) or a sturdy rucksack for a rest, 150 rounds of the best match ammo you can afford. A small notebook or databook to record your hits. Something to lay on. Eyes, ears, and sandbags if you use them, water, snacks, clothing appropriate to the weather, and a camp chair. If you have a less than functional body part, knees etc, knee-pads are a good idea. Wear shoes with ankle support, and bring a few band aids.
-
1. Owning a gun doesn't mean you know how to fight with it.
-
2. Reality is, at the distances where a fight is most likely to occur, accessing and using a concealed firearm may be the least effective response to an immediate threat of violence. Knowing how to fight with or without your weapon will save your life.
